Overcoming Boredom
Boredom. Very common nowadays, for teenagers, especially when it's summer. In this pandemic, we can't get out of the house that makes it difficult.
Let's see, how is boredom caused? Well, either you have things to do, and you prefer getting bored, or you've got a lot of time and less work to do.
If you have work, be productive and start working, and if you don't, keep reading.
Here are some things you'd enjoy doing.
Read a book
Reading can be pretty monotonous, but if you're saying this based on the only book you read, then you're wrong. There are countless books out there, and you must try every single genre, and you never know when you find the perfect book for you.
Recommendations:
Harry Potter Series
Thea Stilton Series, Geronimo Stilton Series
The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho
Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki
Wimpy Kid Series
The Naughtiest Girl Series
Books by Roald Dahl
Stay Hungry Stay Foolish, Connect the Dots, I Have a Dream by Rashmi Bansal
How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie
The Babysitters Club Series
Listen to Podcasts and Audiobooks
If you are not much of a reader, then listening to podcasts and audiobooks will help you. Listening can be effective and can clear your mind just like reading.
For audiobooks, using Audible will be a great choice. Audible has many books, and you can search some from the recommended books I shared with you.
Recommended Podcast:
The Lavendaire Lifestyle (Spotify)
Watch Movies and Web Series
If reading, audiobooks, and podcasts don't engage you, movies and web series will be your thing. These could be anything - Bollywood, Hollywood, K-drama, C-drama, and more! You only need to explore.
Organizing
Organizing can help clear the clutter in your life and make you productive. Clean out your closet or maybe the bookshelf and find things you haven't used for years.
The clutter can be someone's treasure, so donate the thing you don't need anymore.
Learn Something New
Try a new skill! Be it from this list or something new. Trying never hurts.
If you want to get better at something you like then, I would recommend Udemy and Skillshare, where you can find courses on Personal Development, Designing, Business, Music, Photography, and more!
Exercise
Exercising has a lot of benefits, especially in the morning. You can start your day with exercising and feeling upbeat for the rest of the day. It makes you fit and strong. Also, if you're trying to lose or maintain your weight, then exercising will help you a lot.
I highly recommend Chloe Ting's Workout as they have different workouts for different purposes and have many programs on her website with day-to-day plans.
Make a Family Tree
In this pandemic, we are not able to meet our families and have lost some of them. We must explore our families and find out more. Find out who your first cousins are, who were your parents' first cousins, and more! Take this exciting ride and discover your family!
Listen to Music
If you're not in your best mood and are feeling down, music can make it better. It can make you feel upbeat, and you'd be smiling again.
Dancing to the music will make it better, and you'd never know that you were doomy before.
Make a Vision Board
Collect some thoughts from famous personalities or make your own and write them down. Stick pictures of your idol and hang them on your wall. You'll have it in front of you at all times and will always inspire and motivate you.
Draw, Sketch, Paint, and Craft
Just get creative! Gather your thoughts and start creating this will help you think better and make you feel good.
It doesn't matter if you're good or not, because exploring new things doesn't hurt.
Cooking
Finding ways to help your mom is a great idea! Helping your mom cook meals will help her find some time for herself and you.
You can even bake some snacks that may last a week-long or more, or maybe there is a birthday coming up in your family, then baking a cake is not a bad idea either.
You can seek help from Youtube and other resources and try different cuisines like Chinese, Thai, Italian, and Indian.
These ways can help you overcome boredom and use your time more productively. I hope these ideas can help you, and be sure to try them out!
Thanks to my friend, Palak Shah, for inspiring me to write this blog.
