Study Habits I follow
We all want to get better. Here are some tips that would help you to get better as a student.
1 Avoid doing things last-minute
We all procrastinate to get our work done and leave things for the last minute. If you say, 'I work better under pressure' while you are watching Youtube or Netflix. Now is the time to change this.
Start your work now, and do not procrastinate. If you do so, you will be more focused and efficient, and it will increase your productivity.
2 Study every day
When I say this, I am not asking you to sit for an hour daily to study. I am asking you to study over some time instead of studying everything when your exams come up.
Either study less every day or cram everything during your exams.
If you have doubts, you need to ask questions. For a lot of time, I didn't ask questions in class, because I was afraid and shy. Now I know better, I know that teachers are here to help us, and we do not need to be afraid to ask any questions.
Ask all the questions you need and clear your concepts from your teacher.
4 Preview the next chapter
Read through the next chapter of your textbook so, you know what you're going to study beforehand. This way, you will be able to listen to the more important parts your teacher is talking about and be able to structure your notes better.
You don't need to be ahead of class always. Just knowing the basic concepts will help you better.
5 Get Organized
Being organized affects your stress levels too. When you are organized, you will be able to manage your work and time better.
Organization can include a calendar with important school dates like assignment due dates, exam dates, etc. You can organize all the notes and study materials. Organization also includes a to-do list, planners, and trackers that can help you stay productive daily.
Here's my blog for Planning and Organization
6 Use active study methods over passive study methods
Active methods are methods where you are actively recalling your study materials.
Passive methods are methods where you are not recalling anything.
Here are a few examples of active and passive study methods:
Active methods - Summarizing notes and study materials, Flashcards, Mindmaps, and Charts, Taking short tests
Passive methods - Re-reading notes, Highlighting Notes, Re-writing notes, and study material
7 Study missed chapters
You might get sick, or some personal matters might come up, and you'd have to take a leave. Concentrate more on the chapters taught over this time and ask help from friends and teachers to study. This will help you to understand the concepts better.
These were all the habits I like to follow for more productivity and efficiency.
Comment down any ideas you'd like to hear from me.
See you all next time.
