Finding your Career Path
A career is a necessary part of one's life.
I have learned that we should either do what we love or love what we do. Everyone would prefer the first option as you don't have to put in extra effort to like something, but liking your job is not all. Moreover, you should be good at your job, your job should pay well, and it should make a difference to the world.
As teenagers, many of us have already figured out our career path, and many of us haven't. I haven't figured out my career path yet, but I want to keep exploring until I do. I have tried multiple ways, which helped me short-list some ideas for my career, and I hope these help you too.
Taking a career test is a great way to get some professional and unbiased opinions for your career path. Answer a series of questions honestly, and receive a compact and detailed report for your career.

Research
After taking the career test, you can read about the different professions recommended. This way, you'll be explicit about which career you're more interested in and which suit you.
Ask a Family Member
After the research, you may have some idea of career paths that interest you. Go to a family member or a friend working in that profession, and ask them about what it is like. This information may not be available on the internet, so taking advice from a close person is a good idea to gain a personal perspective.
When you find a course or competition that interests you, sign up immediately as it will give you experience and learning. Don't underestimate yourself because you can do anything.
After all the tips, if you're still confused, it's okay. You have enough time to do more research and thinking but use your time wisely. Start exploring yourself and thinking about what you want. Soon, you'll know what is right for you.
I hope these tips help you and let me know your career test results down below.

ReplyDeleteI want to add – career / profession is small part of the life. 1. Don’t make it extremely important part of your life (at any stage), 2. Be open to change – be always ‘a curious’, learn and learn more things, doesn’t matter if all relates to your profession. 3. Professions are always changing and coming decades will even see faster changes – expect to have multiple careers – consider these possibilities : a. you would be in one profession in first 10 years which would have no relation to what you would do in next 10, b. you do some thing in first 3 days of a week and something absolutely different in next 2, or even c. you do more than one job during a single day – 4-5 hours each or even all in parallel (may be sitting at home or at your own office). To summarize, focus on how to become a learner – rather than a professional, do mostly what you like and love (money will follow), keep ‘making money’ one small part of overall life, and work for ‘overall life’ you would want not just the career.
